Hello All. My sweet husband, the one who makes it possible for me to escape the southern heat and humidity every summer, arrived here last weekend. He was so busy this summer with work that his trip back here was postponed and he was gone 42 days!! That is the longest we have ever been apart by 10 days or more. We took the opportunity of being in Jackson to partake in some fine dining (something we do rarely). I chose the restaurant on the recommendation of our son and we ordered the Tuna Tartar appetizer per his suggestion. It was very good. We will go back to the Rendezvous Bistro again ..... someday.
I like going to the Jackson Hole airport. I always get there too early and have time to people watch. In the evenings most of the flights terminate there and the crew spends the night in town. Because the airport is small you are aware of where each flight started from and if it had any stopovers. I love to see how much luggage people are bringing and guess whether or not they are tourists or residents of the area. On the flights from Salt Lake City there are many people who only left for the day, for business or shopping. I also like watching the look on first timer's faces when they step through the aircraft door and realize there are stairs down to the tarmac and they have to walk outside. This is especially entertaining when they arrive in the winter and have packed their jackets to retrieve at baggage claim. 20 degree temps with a 20 mph wind can make a slow walk down icy stairs and across a frozen tarmac uncomfortable.
Because of the infrequency of flights during the evenings the airport truly shuts down between flights and overnight and the workers go home. Oh, I'm sure there is somebody there but the lights are turned off. Imagine Atlanta-Hartsfield closing down.
Looking forward to meeting you at the airport someday.
