Weddings and Travel
On Friday, the 19th we travelled with our friends P & P to Stevensville, Maryland for the wedding of another friend's son. What an event! It started on Friday night with a reception given by the family of the groom. That alone was worth the trip. The Bride, a beautiful woman of Indian descent, elected to have a wedding bringing in her family's Hindu culture. It was an interesting ceremony and they fortunately gave each guest a "cheat sheet" (actually a scroll) to keep up with what was happening.
The wedding started at 1:30 with the guests and family of the groom accompanying the Groom, who was riding atop a very well dressed white horse, across the parking lot of the wedding site. We danced and beat wooden stick together with music as we led him to meet his future in-laws at the door. He presented his gifts and declared his intent. The reception food was outstanding, consisting of vegetarian, poultry, and seafood selections. The dance music was more suited to the younger guests, but I did dance enough to burn off the calories I consumed, which was a lot.
Our hotel and all the festivities of the weekend were held at venues on the Chesapeake Bay. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed our surroundings. Our trip by auto went very well. Our meals simple and usually at a roadside picnic table tasted great because of the company, the weather and surroundings.

An Indian Wedding...what a special treat. Glad you enjoyed yourselves.
It was wonderful! When we all retire (or win the lottery), we're going to buy a "big" motorhome and travel with our dogs. What a fabulous weekend!
What a festive way to experience another culture!
