Hello Carolyn

and my other blog followers.  I finally got off the sofa and took a trip last week.  DH (dear husband) came home from work one day and said "I need to go to our happy place", which is what he calls our vacation home.  We drove away from our home on departure day with a tornado bearing down on us.  Then waiting on the elevated platform for the train to the airport left us rather damp.

Flying into the nearest airport (Jackson, WY) without making a reservation way in advance is expensive so we decided to save a bundle and fly into Salt Lake and take the shuttle bus.  Our arrival the first day was several hours past the departure of the final shuttle so we spent the night in SL and took the shuttle the next day.  Our arrival in the valley was at 6:00 PM.  Door to door .... over 30 hrs.  Oh well one glance at the view and it was worth it.

Leaving the valley on Thursday... another story.  Our wonderful neighbor drove us to another town an hour away which actually shortened our trip home by 6 hours.  The very crowded shuttle ride got us to the airport 5 boring hours before our departure.  Our full flight left SLC at midnight and we didn't arrive home until 1:00 PM on Friday.  24 hours in transit.  We were so very tired.  We now agree that driving 3 days to get there would have been more relaxing.

In spite of the hassles of the trip we were so happy to be at our home out west and visit with our friends and nearest neighbors, Steve and Renee.  I'm sure many of you would not travel to see snow, but when it's a choice and not outside your window everyday, it's a treat.  A cold I caught sometime on the trip kept us from participating in any snow sports, but just hanging out in our home was a pleasure.

That view is worth it! I can now understand the three day drive a bit better from that point of view!

I would take a plane, train, or automobile just to play in the snow. Paula

Our trips from Germany to Idaho is shorter than that! In fact, I think India to Idaho is also shorter. Hope we can get there again soon to play!
