All is very quiet around here today. Leigh and Benjamin left yesterday for their return home to Germany. Opa and I are certainly going to miss the joyful sounds and sights that a baby brings into a home. Seeing him, his Mom and his Dad so much during their extended stay in the U.S. was such a delight. Thank you kids for sharing so much of your "family leave" with us.
Benjamin arrived as a baby and left as a toddler. The day before he left he mastered pushing himself up into a standing position from the middle of the floor. Prior to that he had used an object or person to pull himself up. I was glad to see and hear many of his "firsts". He was just minutes away from taking a few steps, but Leigh was discouraging that first until he got home so Papa could watch.
He thrilled us as he disappeared into the security line at the airport by blowing up many sweet kisses. Bye bye Benjamin .... come back soon!

I look back over this family time they had here and feel slightly selfish when I say...How dare they come and spend time with us and be around and then just disappear across the atlantic? They have some nerve getting us involved in their day to day activities only to take it all away! They will be missed and I hope that it isn't long till they move back here for good.
Aww I cried reading this!!! How sweet! Don't you hate that you can't see them everyday? I think that is one of the things that leaves me feeling depressed most days. Well that and menopause messing with my emotions. UGH!
I was happy to read you got to bet there for many of his 'firsts' How wonderful!
