No matter who you voted for, at 11:00 EST last night, you had to feel pride in being an American. After a historic turn-out of voters all across this country Barrack Obama was elected 44th President of the United States of America. How historic. I remember 48 years ago when it was wondered if an Irish-American from the state of Massachusetts could be elected the first Roman Catholic President. Last night proved what a different place we live in from decades ago.
Now; good luck Senator Obama. Get in there and get the job done. We, the citizens of this country are wanting amazing things to be done in a short amount of time. We have run out of patience. Listen to our fears and ask for our help.
Senator McCain, excellent speech; polite, respectful and supportive.
Elizabeth Dole - well, you found out that dirty campaigning can backfire.

I agree--Mr. Obama has such an awesome opportunity and, basically, a thankless job. Regardless of who anyone voted for, we owe it to him as Americans to show him our support. I'm thankful that he won by such a large number of popular votes so we, hopefully, won't hear about voter fraud for the next four years. I wonder if the voters got Saxby Chambliss' attention. I am proud to be an American and will be putting my prayers and support behind our new President elect.
I think you said it right Mom...our country is in such dire need of change that knowing a new leader will soon be in place is a comforting feeling. From the international perspective...the US chose wisely!
I sent in my absentee ballot back in October and I voted for Obama. Living outside the US and hearing all the negative comments about Americans. Things like "Why would they elect Bush AGAIN are they really that stupid?!?" I was so very happy to walk into work on Wednesday and hear positive comments!
My daughter is homeschooling my granddaughter and she taught her about the branches of government and who runs each one and what each branch can and can't do. My granddaughter was really into it. Then she made her a button that says "I can vote in 2020!" She brought her along with her while she voted then they had friends over to watch the historic election on TV. What wonderful memories she will have forever!
