In Memory of Onkel Ferdi

Our Onkel Ferdi in Germany departed this earth for his heavenly home two weeks ago.  Our Tante (Aunt) Gini met Ferdi on a "safari" in Kenya over 25 years ago.  They were both widowers.  They were a delight to see together - their love and commitment to each other was evident.  He called her his "piece of gold".  They were always gazing into each others eyes and holding hands. They traveled the world together.  Among the places they visited were Kenya, Thailand, Madagascar, and twice they travelled all through the American West, both U.S. and Canada.  For many years Ferdi's official vacation outfits were ones he had made in Kenya, the safari look.  We were fortunate to see him in April while we were at Tante Gini's birthday celebration.  Though it was evident that his health was failing, the sparkle was still in his eyes and his sense of humor was intact (though I never understood a word he said).  Our thoughts are with Gini and the other members of Ferdi's family.
