Why don't we expect more of our leaders?

Today's headlines are about another governor involved in a scandal.  Along with a description of his transgression was a list of other politicians and their scandals in their past.
Yesterday the AJC had an entire section of the paper about John McCain.  He describes himself as a "punk" in high school.  He said he partied hard at the Naval Academy and it was all his fault that he graduated 8th from the bottom of his class.  At the Naval Academy he also had the dubious honor of belonging to the Century Club - students who had at least 100 demerits.  It is well reported that he has a short fuse and has to work hard to control his temper.  It wasn't until he had political aspirations that he decided to 'clean up his act'.
Barack Obama has admitted to recreational drug use during his college years.  I don't know much about his personality or other misdeeds.  But I'm sure all of his and Mrs. Clinton's misdeeds will come out in the near future.
My thought is:  It really isn't so difficult to be a good guy - Why is it so difficult to vote for one?

Barbara, your point is well-taken. It seems that the really good guys know better than to run for president.
It is always the ones that are the most self-righteous that fall the hardest.

No kidding. The good guys are to smart to run for president...they are CEOs of companies making a lot more money...and if they screw up, they know they will be fired...immediately!
We don't hold our leaders responsible for their actions...all of them...from local politicians all the way to the President.
