We were on vacation in December when we got a contract on our house in Big Canoe, GA. After we got home we just had 5 weeks to pack and move. If not for friends and family we would have never made that deadline. Sick with bad colds and not knowing exactly where and when we would be moving into our next home it went slower than anticipated.
During that time we made friends with the future owners of our house and that took some of the pressure off. They asked for many of the items we were going to have to haul to the thrift store and when a large snow and ice storm happened in the middle of the physical move the extra time needed was not a problem for them.
So for 6 weeks our belongings are in storage and we have a comfortably furnished rental until our new house is available. It took longer than anticipated to find a home that would suit our lifestyle and we were surprised to find one in Georgia. I know what I said in the last post about being glad to leave Georgia, but this house is less than 1/4 mile from the Tennessee state line.
When I moved away from Tennessee as a child there was unfortunately two TV shows that gave a rather distorted view of the South; The Andy Griffith Show and The Beverly Hillbillies. So when I moved to rural New England many of the kids thought I had landed from another planet.
