Photography and unexpected subjects

I can't call this guy a young man.  I understand gnomes could be as much as several centuries old.  However I can tell you that Bernard lives in a beautiful part of the world, and travels to many other parts of the globe.  I've seen him at weddings, on multi-day hikes, and in a local bar.  I love the idea of photographing something/someone else on vacations and other journeys.  An acquaintance traveled by herself one summer.  At her vacation location she rented a bicycle and the shiny two-wheeler became a subject in her vacation scenery photographs.  I'm not sure I'll ever have room for a gnome or other item in my luggage, but I'm going to be on the lookout for something that would suit the purpose.

I love this idea too. Especially when traveling alone. Our Iowa friends have taken their Snoopys around the world and photographed them. It would make a cute collage of photos with an object in front of some of the worlds most famous sights. Rene and Rodrigo always do thumbs up in their photos together, so maybe an action is also a possibility.
