Holi - a celebration of color in India

Yesterday in Pune, India was the celebration of Holi.  I'm not sure the significance of this holiday, but it is very colorful.  The dyes are in powder form and placed upon each other for good luck.  Water is added, either mixing it directly with the powder or squirting the people afterwards.  I believe the Indian people just go home and shower and the dye stains don't show up much, but if you are blond and pale your skin still shows colors for days and your hair is pink & yellow for awhile.  These pictures are of my grandson and a local boy applying color to each other.  I love these two pictures.  I hope in the future all these photographs will trigger some memory of his time in that part of the world.

These are my favourite shots too. Such a unique interaction between cultures. I hope these children don't forget that we are all human ... Regardless of ethnic, color, or social class.
