Maybe it was last week's weather, maybe it was a realtor bringing someone to see our house, but we had a moment when we thought it was time to start looking at homes and neighborhoods in Chattanooga. So yesterday we took a list of open houses and took a drive to look at a few of them. First house reminded me that if I ever need a portrait photograph taken of myself I will get a real estate photographer to do it. Those photographers can make a dump look like a House Beautiful magazine spread. It was such a charming and beautiful house when we looked at it online, but in person, it was just old and needed a lot of work.
The difficult part of this housing search will be choosing a neighborhood. In trying to chose a place that will accomodate us into our old age, there are so many questions you have to ask. Close to the grocery store? Close to medical care? And a place the kids will enjoy visiting us at. Most of our other moves were guided by quality of schools and will this place appreciate in value.
