Even before I knew about beachfront resorts I still had a great time on vacation

My parents planned our vacations according to their Income Tax refund.  $50. and we went to a nearby State or National Park and camped.   $100 and we went to Florida.  Here's a picture from one of the Florida trips.  We stayed in a cottage right on the beach and as you can tell, there wasn't a pool.  That's me right in front along with my sis and my cousins.  I seem to be the happiest, maybe because I could actually fit in my bucket).

What a wonderful picture!! Ahh yes, family vacations. What a great picture that I'm sure brings back lots of happy memories.
Ahh yes, family vacations. I am the youngest of 5 but my two brothers were on their own by the time I was old enough to remember anything. I remember one vacation we drove from IL to TX and it was in a Chevrolet Impala (70 something) and you know who ended up lying in the back window because her two older sisters kept saying "MOM she's touching me!" I got sick of it so I would climb in the back window. Man that must have been hot but I don't remember that. Can you imagine that today? It's a wonder we survived! haha

Summer trips without seatbelts or air conditioning. You're right; how did we survive.
