Travel outside the borders of the U.S.

It is painful to watch the parents of the missing students in Haiti as they beg for help from the U.S. government for help in finding their children. But their anger is misplaced. When we travel beyond our borders we are at the mercy of the relief agencies and government of foreign soils when a disaster happens. As we are learning, the country of Haiti has had a complete break down of law and government. And it appears that they never had any disaster plans. Maybe all the people who were to take charge during chaos of this magnitude are themselves trapped or dead. How does any rescue operation pass by any collapsed building to go to another where Americans might be. Painful decisions are being made. No man's daughter is more important than another.

OK United Nations; this is your game. When obvious that a nation cannot handle what has been thrust upon them; step up and take charge. No more "assessment crews", just get in there and get the job done. No taking inventory of what's needed - just send and drop anything, these people will make do.

It is hard to imagine not knowing the fate of your loved ones, but I agree...one life can't be valued more than another, but, you can't blame the parents for trying.
