Snowmelt Almost Over

Last weekend the final bit of snow at the ski resort melted away and snow at the higher elevations is looking pretty sparse. (See webcam pictures on the links to the right). As a result the creeks and irrigations canals are running pretty slow or are empty. Now irrigation will continue but through the pumps throughout the valley that pull water from the underground water table. On our property is a fire pond, a requirement for every neighborhood. It's my job as the only resident of the neighborhood to keep the fire pond full. Evaporation in the dry climate is constant. To do this I open a valve which pulls water from this underground pump system throughout the valley. The neighbors called today and asked if they could bring their dogs over to swim in the pond. Seems the dogs were feeling sad that the irrigation creek in front of their house is now dry.

Do you have an official name? When I come out there, can I be your assistant? Maybe I can write my trip off. I need to talk to my accountant!
