You know me and the heat; I really, really don't like high temperatures. There is nothing that can be done to make me feel better when hot weather gets me uncomfortable and cranky. For decades I said every summer: "Next year I will spend the entire summer in Maine". I never did get a chance to. So when I found out what summers were like in Idaho my tune changed to "I will spend every summer in Idaho until I am too old to get here.
I"m not too old yet and arrived here the last day of June and will stay until mid September. The temperatures are in the high 70s, low 80s during the sunny days . The sun at 6400 ft above sea level can be brutal. Everyone seems to know the importance of sunscreen, sunglasses and hats. I understand that true summer is actually two weeks in August when everyone wonders why they didn't get air conditioning installed last year. But the heat effects can be quickly beaten by just finding a spot of shade with a breeze and you will cool down immediately. No humidity is the reason for the comfort.
Todays breeze and temperatures in the low 70s kept me in my long pants and fleece vest all day. Tonights' temperature, 42, is quite similar to daytime winter temps in Georgia. We are going to work on our fire pit in the yard. It would have been great to have tonight.

i can't wait to sit by the firepit during my next visit. Can it be found underneath the winter snow?
I hate hot temps also. Jack claims that I will never reach post-menopause. I hope you continue to enjoy your new vacation home. 'Happy belated birthday.
PS...who is the beauty in the picture?
