On this trip I will be taking my eldest grandchild with me. It will be fun to see Europe through his eyes. I hope I can keep this teenage boy entertained and interested enough to want to continue exploration of the world. I am trying to remember that children often don't show the emotions we want them to. But years later, they look back on their experiences with fondness and pride.
My children were excellent travelers. We took them as many places we could. They were good about not expecting lots of souvenirs, shopping and eating fancy meals out. They knew our trips were about getting to see and experience new and different things. And did we laugh!! We still talk about some of the experiences we had and the people we met (i.e. Wayne and Marge).
Tonight I will stay up until after twelve to try and snag an anniversary deal on RailEurope for a sharply discounted rail pass. That will be an added bonus to our trip, giving us the opportunity to travel a bit further than we currently plan.
