Unfortunately, when I came back to this 10 year old house, the appliances looked old. On the list to replace here is our old noisy dishwasher. And I'm finding out that plastic doesn't last forever. A dial on my dryer broke last week as did one on my sewing machine. I have some super-duper repair filler that I hope fixed it.
Rants, raves and thoughts about the journey through my rather easy to deal with life.

Appliance Improvements???
Our new vacation home is just over 1 year old and was built by a single young man. His idea of shopping was going to the big box home improvement store and choosing the most expensive appliances they had. When I saw the fancy electronics my first impression was "I hope nothing breaks", because repairing appliances with all the electronic controls, etc. is way more difficult than those that just have gears and cams. The appliances are beautiful, but have many more settings than I will ever need. The bright red washer and dryer were so confusing that I had to look behind them to figure out which was the washer. The dishwasher is so quiet that you have to open it to see if it is running. My favorite thing and I would buy this again is the range hood that is very quiet, unlike any I've had before. All these appliances have pleasant sounding chimes instead of buzzers, that's nice.
