35 + years ago my Dad was involved with the production of power generation equipment that would use garbage as fuel. He was in the field (actually the landfill) with scientists as they examined the contents, determining the dangerous items that should not be burned and measuring the increasing piles of trash that we discard. He shared the knowledge he gleaned with me. He didn't convince me to stop using disposable diapers, but I did start noticing the rapidly growing piles of trash known as landfills in the areas I have lived. One such landfill is known as Mt. Rumpke near Cincinnati, OH. It is the highest point in Ohio, and made entirely of trash. During the 9 years we lived in that area it was obvious to us that it was growing at a rapid rate. Our family is proud to say that we recycle as much as we can. Taking care of the earth God gave us is our responsibility.

I have such a good feeling when I recycle. However, I do not enjoy picking my neighbors non-recycle goods out of the recycle bin. In Germany, we recycle just about everything...no sorting out just the #1 and #2 plastics...even the plastic or aluminum looking celophane that comes off a bag of potato chips or bag of carrots is recyclable!
