Cashier refuses child's payment in quarters ...

Most likely the cashier could not add the coins and therefore could not enter the amount received into the computerized cash register.  The story was that a child put her 4 dollars worth of quarters on the counter to purchase a gift for her mother.  The cashier refused them - huh!!?
Last year I was in line at Target when a child in front of me was counting out her money to the cashier.  The Mom turned and apologized to me for the delay.  I replied that there was no reason for an apology - that it was refreshing to watch someone pay in CASH!  It was a good lesson for the child - save, then spend.
