We are landing in Amsterdam on the morning of the 9th and will leave there on the afternoon of the 11th. That Friday we will arrive by train in Dusseldorf, Germany about the time daughter Leigh and her fiance, Rene get off from work. We are looking forward to seeing them and getting to know about their lives in Dusseldorf. I have a feeling this will be the part of the trip where we overindulge in both food and drink. After they head off to work on Tuesday we will take the train to Cologne, enjoy the sights, pick up our rental car and drive southwest to the River Moselle. We were there for just a day 7 years ago and have wanted to spend some leisurely time there ever since. Then we will drive northeast to Budingen and celebrate Tante (Aunt) Giny's 95th birthday. Giny is the sister of Dick's late Mom. Budingen, a cute little walled town with a castle, will be the only repeat destination during this trip. Home on Monday the 21st.
If you know anything about these destinations, I welcome your suggestions.

Sounds like fun! Tell Tante Ginny Happy Birthday from us! Enjoy the sights and put all the pictures on the blog!
Mom...depending on the weather, we may take a day or overnight trip to Amsterdam this weekend, so I may have some new ideas for you...do you have any for me?...as I haven't doen any research on it yet. Just things to do/see...not lodging.
WOW! That sounds like so much fun! I hope that you guys have a great time. Can you ring back some of those little drunk candies? :) I can't wait to see the pictures that you all take!
My family on my mother's side is from the Frankfurt area. The Rhine Valley is always a beautiful place - take a Rhine cruise, and be sure to stop at one of the wineries. The best wines are white, and when I was drinking wine I really liked the Neisteiner Gutes Domtal. Enjoy your trip!
