Still Life in the Garden

I'm not much of a gardener, nor a gourmet cook, but I do appreciate fresh produce, and you can't get any fresher than this!  I knew this garden would be beautiful as I had already seen some of the lettuce grown in it.
The gentleman who owns this garden was beginning to get overwhelmed so he invited my friend and neighbor to come pick this morning.  And I was fortunate enough to be able to tag along.

The property is about two miles west of my house.  I couldn't resist in taking a picture looking back towards my place.Roasted beets are on the menu tomorrow night.

Aren't these vegetables beautiful.  I'm so used to vegetables being picked before they are ripe and spending a couple of weeks in transit before they are dumped in the supermarket bins.

I didn't get a picture of the raspberries.  Delicious!  Fortunately the bushes were full and in two days a new harvest will be ready for picking.
