Summer is usually the first two weeks of August though this summer started earlier than normal here in Teton Valley, ID. The heat has slowed me down a bit doing projects as I would rather find a cool corner and read. Though the temperatures here are higher than normal it is still much comfortable than the high temperatures and humidity back in the southeast U.S. The house heats up a bit during the day, but as soon as the sun sets there is a cool 60 degree or less breeze blowing through the windows.
We don't have cable TV as the times we visit here it is usually just repeats. But we do have an antennae to pull in signals from local (well 2 hrs away) stations. You usually can't depend on it, but during the Olympics the NBC affiliate has juiced up their signal and I haven't missed any of the games.
The carpenters are here this week building a shed roof over the garage doors. This will improve the front of the house by giving it some dimension. These two guys are friends of Robert and I enjoy having them around. I would love to talk with them but I have to keep reminding myself that I'm paying by the hour.
I've have done some hiking. I was very afraid that I would not be able to get out of bed this morning after yesterday's 9 mile hike. There were 17 women and all made it to the end. We were rewarded with a beautiful mountain lake set in the Jedidiah Smith Wilderness Area. The gain in elevation wasn't as much as most of this groups hikes, so that's why it could be longer. But the temperatures never cooled down and the trail was dry and very dusty. I'm pretty sure I haven't been that dirty since I was 10 years old or younger. It's going to take several showers and using a brush before my feet are clean.
If you see my husband tell him he's a very generous and understanding guy. He's back east working hard and I'm out here playing at whatever I want. He understands that I cannot stand southern heat and humidity and makes it possible for me to escape. I wish he could spend more time out here with me.
Hope all is well with you and you are having a good summer also.
