Moon Rise

With all this wide open sky visible I tend to notice the location of the sun, moon and stars and how it changes daily.  This was last night's photo over the Rocky Mountains, just south of the Grand Teton National Park.  By the time we leave in September the moon will appear many miles to north of this location.  Due to our lattitude there are relatively few hours of darkness during the summer.  As a result my eyes open early, but it doesn't take much convincing for me to go back to sleep.  This morning I awoke and looked out the window.  The glow of the sun rising was visible over the mountains to the east and the moon was sinking behind the mountains to the west.  Due to some smoke in the west it looked exactly like a sunset .... pinkish.  If I didn't know where I was it would have been quite confusing.  I know, I should have grabbed my camera.
