Birthdays, better than the alternative.

Went out with friends last night to celebrate the 60th birthday of one.  Reminded me of turning 60 several years ago.  You know, it wasn't as traumatic as I thought it might be.  My elders were OLD when they reached 60 years of age.  I actually felt younger than I did when I turned 50.  I'm glad to be living in a time when the answer to all physical complaints is NOT "Well, you ARE getting old".  Thanks to medical professionals that looks at quality of life instead of  the age of a person.  Those who don't should retire.

Pictured above is the cake from my 60th birthday.  It was beautiful.  It always reminds me of the time my Mom asked what kind of cake I wanted?  I surprised her when I said "PINK".  Being born on a patriotic holiday meant I had way too many red, white & blue cakes.
