Renter?

We are trying to find a rental property in Chattanooga.  Doesn't look like this house will sell anytime soon and we need to be there.  I haven't been a renter for 40 years.  Not sure how I feel about it now other than perhaps it will give us the opportunity to try something new like living right in the heart of the city.  From watching the evening news I'm concerned that we might get taken in some scam.  Here in the Atlanta area non-owners are renting out homes that have been abandoned.  Also landlords aren't forthcoming about properties being in foreclosure.  You could come home some day and find out that the sheriff has moved your belongings out on the curb even though you have made your rent payments.  Can you imagine!!

I've told everyone I can think of that we are looking for a place.  I figure word of mouth might be a safer route to go.

Now I'm looking around the house deciding what furniture I can cull out to furnish a place there.  I'm pretty sure I can remove 4 rooms worth of furnishings and this place will not miss it.
