Save The Date

We went into our first home purchase with little guidance.  We were lucky that we didn't get "had".  We did end up paying the asking price and on the day before closing the previous owner called and asked if we wanted to purchase the TV antanae that was installed on the roof.  We said no so he went out and cut the cords leading to it as he obviously could not remove it.  He was so mad that we wouldn't purchase that or their old appliances that he would not sit at the closing table with us.  The next year while they were visiting in their old neighborhood he sent one of his sons to tell us that the house looked awful and we should have never painted over the color he chose.

Fast forward to the purchase of our vacation home from a young single man who did not want to sell his dream property and only did so because of financial needs.  We realized that the move from that place to one much smaller would be impossible if we didn't offer him space to store his vast collection of tools and stuff.  So now 2-1/2 years later his garage is finished and his belongings are almost gone.

Now, here's a strange relationship.  Sitting here I cannot remember the names of any of the previous owners of the homes we have purchased from individuals.  But this guy ---- he is getting married in our yard this summer.  I figure that by the time we are too old to travel to this home we can sell it back to him.  He certainly has an emotional connection to it.
