Wow, what a people/race/culture

Stories from Japan that showcase the patience and unselfishness of the people there are so heartwarming. However, it does make one compare these people to the citizens of other countries, including our own.  Waiting in line here in the U.S.  for 6 hours to get a few gallons of fuel;  would the line be free from grumbling?  Heck, we'd be surprised if there weren't a knifing or other physical confrontations.  The electric companies of Japan said there would be rolling blackouts of power in order to stretch the limited amount of electricity.  What happened?  The citizens themselves cut back so dramatically on their usage that the blackouts became unnecessary.  This country it would have been "give me my share, if I can pay for it I should be able to use it".  God bless these people and relieve their suffering soon.

Absolutely amazing people. I hope I can learn from them...and I hope others do too.

I wish I could remember who said it and exactly how it goes but - a true test of ones character is how they respond to the most difficult times.
