Travel and Security (I remember when it all started)
I'm going to whisper this post. I leaving in a few weeks for my seventh trip to Europe. Starting way back in 1970 every trip back to the U.S. has introduced me to a further increase in airport security. During my first European vacation there were airline hijackings and explosions that resulted in the very first security checkpoints in airports. Every passenger went behind a screen and was frisked. Next trip a passenger jet was shot down over Korea ... new were soldiers in foreign airports carrying machine guns and this is when they started asking "Did you pack your own bag? Has your bag been out of your sight?" Next trip was September 2001, enough said. Trip in 2004 I learned that I was the same age as former Irish female terrorists and that changing departure cities at the last minute puts you under suspicion. Kinda odd standing there while some guy compares your face to those in an Interpol notebook. 2008 ... just the norm. 2009, at the same time we were flying across the Atlantic another plane blew up and disappeared into the same ocean. Now this trip .... I hit the button to purchase my ticket and evidently the State Department knew it and issued this travel warning just to freak me out.

Everything will be fine...but I do find that it helps to pray before take off and landing. Dear God, Please pick up this plane with your hands and gently set it down at my destination. Amen. I literally picture his hands caring the plane. I've been doing this ever since my nightmare flight to Chihuahua, Mexico.
And your friends have already started praying for you, too, and Leigh, Benjamin, and Rene.
