Trying to be "Green"

The appliance repairman pronounced our refrigerator unworthy of repair yesterday.  Oh it can be repaired, but the cost of the repair and the age (11) of the appliance makes it more economical to just replace.  In this age of plug in components it annoys me that it can't be repaired less expensively.  What a shame to just discard this giant box of plastic and metal when it is in great condition. I hate adding to the landfill!!!
