Life Saving Methods

Last week I had the opportunity to accompany my daughter to an infant life saving course at an Atlanta Hospital.  We learned CPR, choking rescue and SIDs prevention.  There have been big changes in CPR.  It is actually less frightening than years ago.  The choking remedies seem rather rough, but they work.  SIDs prevention means many changes in the nursery.  Babies should be sleeping only on their backs with no blankets, crib bumpers, toys, etc. in the bed.  They say with these changes SIDs deaths have been reduced dramatically.  I thought about how little I am around babies, but realized these skills could be put to use anytime, anywhere with a child who is a stranger to me.  I'm glad I went.

Thanks for being my other half for the class. At first I thought the lady was crazy when she said to continue to practice the techniques for a few weeks, so you don"t forget them...I think my memory is already slipping...time to get out my favorite baby doll and practice.
