Houseguests......

We built this house 10 years ago with the hope that we would often fill our guest rooms with friends and family.  When our friends visit they cause little disruption to our lives.  They always arrive with food and they are a great help in the kitchen.  When they leave, the sheets and towels are in the laundry and though I might have to search for items in the kitchen, nothing is left to do except sit down and relax.  Our "newer" friends from Chattanooga came this weekend to enjoy the neighborhood Octoberfest.  Whenever we are with them we are reminded how much we want to sell our home and move closer to them.

Our neighborhood Octoberfest was the largest ever.  The oom pah pah band was loud, but good (even though they had fake German accents), there were more food choices and many more gift and craft vendors than ever before.  It was warm and clear and there was more than a thousand people attending.

Back at our house hubby and I fixed a plain German meal for them.... several different types of salads, brats, pork and the requisite sauerkraut and spaetzle.  There went last week's 2.5 lb weight loss!

Hurry back friends.

Sounds like a great time! If you move you will have to start your own Oktoberfest!!! I'll bring some beer!

We will definitely have our own if we live somewhere where the festivities don't exist. I imagine Chattanooga will start one since the Germans are coming for the new Volkswagen plant.

Maybe that would have been better than the one we went too...We traveled all the way from Germany to attend the oktoberfest in Jackson, WY. The band called Rene up on stage to blow the long alpine horns. He actually carried a tune. Why wasn't Abe there this year sporting the Lederhosen?
