What was I saying about being energy dependent -
Well, it's more than one utility that I am dependent on..... WATER. Opening the tap/faucet and having that stuff we reach for so many times a day flow into the sink. We have a resident water company located in our neighborhood, run by a larger company. Now, the roads and utilities for our large rural and mountainous neighborhood were put in in the early 1970's. It has been patch, patch, patch for the past decade on the water system. Friday they came to repair a leak near the street. When they isolated it the pressure caused more leaks a few feet up the line. This morning they brought a front loader, ditch digger or whatever! Even though the street had been marked by every utility, cable provider and the water company (you know, call before you dig) .....the first scoop that came out of the road contained the main water main channel connection and the cable tv wires - uh oh. Got it repaired in just 8 hours and bam, that blocking the water flow for so long caused a leak further up the line and now after midnight they still work - I hope , because we have not had water for 18 hours AND DID I MENTION -I Have 9 house guests!! Some that flew a great distance yesterday and others that played a sweaty game of golf today. Stacked precariously on the kitchen counters are ALL the dishes and pans that it takes to feel a crowd 3 meals & snacks all day. You can get two flushes out of a toilet before the water is all gone and because they gave us no notice and we didn't get to fill a few buckets. The toilet situation was getting worrisome. Finally, I figure this was an emergency and I would find the key hiding place of the neighbors across the street and let us in to take care of business with toilets that could be flushed. Hope things are back to normal when we wake tomorrow.

What an experience!!! We quickly realized how dependent we are on water. Thankfully everyone was a good sport...we survived!
