Money Woes and Fuel Shortages

The generation before mine (my parents) remembered the Great Depression.  My parents never used the guilt inducing line; "If you had lived through the Depression .....".  However, I understand my in-laws used it frequently with their 3 children.  I hope it does not become a part of the current adults vocabulary.

For two weeks we, who live in the greater Atlanta area have been told over and over that this gas shortage will last for 4 more days.  This morning the news was it's going to be another 2 to 3 weeks!  The reasons:  #1 the fuel travels through the pipeline from the Gulf at only 5 mph and that's when the pipe is full (at capacity).  Now it's only half full.  #2 Hoarding - Yes showing up at the gas station with a trunk full of 1 gallon containers is hoarding.  Also "topping off" is also being called selfish .... but who can dare pass by a station with fuel to offer.
