Road Hazards
We drove 2200 miles this week to reach our destination and visit a few tourist sites along the way. No problems until just 12 miles from the door of Robert's home. We hit a deer at the base of Teton Pass. He was large and hit the drivers side. We were so lucky that we didn't collide head on with him or we would have been injured. My little VW yellow bug is probably totaled - we will find out tomorrow. The front hood is crumpled, the front panel is cracked and the driver's door is demolished, window included. The glass did what safety glass is supposed to do .. go into a thousand pieces, but was held in place by the aftermarket window tinting. To add insult to injury - 4 miles later we were pulled over by the only policeman on duty in the whole valley, because one headlight was out. No ticket as it was obvious that this had JUST happened since the whole side of the car was covered in fresh deer poop!! Took my car to save on fuel - oh well.

Update: They did not "total" my car. However, it was $4300. worth of damage. And we now believe it was an elk rather than a deer.
never a dull moment...nothing worse than that minutes before fathers day!
There is a history of car drama in Idaho...let's recap for some humor (I hope you find it humorous) - The Money Pit Beast (aka suburban), Rental car sliding & getting stuck in snow,...and now, the run-in with the Elk. Hmmmmm...when is Driggs installing Mass Transit?
